How we work

Make the argument.
Show the arithmetic.

Numbers should make an idea clearer. They should also make it possible to challenge it.

Source before conclusion

We start with official statistics, regulations, research papers, school disclosures and company filings. Company claims are attributed; estimates and scenarios are labelled.

Define the denominator

Material numbers need a period, geography, unit, population and source. Percentage points differ from percentage changes. Enrolment differs from completion.

Check what transfers

A result from another country starts an Indian question. We examine the study design, cost, duration, language, baseline and implementation before drawing a local conclusion.

Keep the editor accountable

Research and drafting may use AI assistance. Shitiz reviews and approves every article before release. Sources, assumptions and limitations stay visible; substantive edits need fresh approval.

One number can answer only one question.

Gross enrolment ratio compares enrolment at a stage with the population of its official age group. Completion measures the share of a defined population that finished a grade or stage. Exam pass rate describes the candidates who appeared, using the board’s definition. Learning outcomes measure demonstrated skills through a specified assessment. These indicators answer different questions; we do not treat them as interchangeable.
