The notebook / Privacy
Privacy & cookies
K12 Notebook is run by Shitiz Ruhail. This page explains the website’s use of Google Analytics. Updated 3 October 2026.
Understanding what people read
If you choose “Allow analytics”, Google Analytics collects information such as the public pages you visit, engagement with those pages, the website that referred you, and information about your browser, device and approximate location. Analytics cookies help distinguish visits and returning readers. This helps me understand the notebook’s readership and which topics are useful.
The Google Analytics tag loads only after you allow it. Declining does not affect your ability to read the notebook. The private editorial desk and draft previews are excluded from this tracking. Names, email addresses, sign-in credentials and editorial feedback are not sent by the notebook’s analytics code.
Your choice
You can allow or decline analytics, and change your choice using “Cookie settings” in the footer. Your choice is remembered in this browser for 180 days. Declining after previously allowing analytics stops this tracking and removes the notebook’s accessible Google Analytics cookies. Your choice applies to this browser; it does not delete data already collected by Google.
Google’s role
Google processes analytics data to provide the reports. Advertising personalization and Google Signals are disabled in the notebook’s tracking. Learn how Google uses information from websites that use its services, or use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
The editorial desk
Signing in to the editorial desk uses the site’s authentication service and is restricted to the owner. Drafts, approval decisions and requested changes are stored to run the publishing workflow. Analytics consent does not control the sign-in needed for that private desk.
